Modification of carbon nanotube photophysical properties by charge-carrier doping, chemical side-wall functionalization or temperature-driven localization has emerged as an increasingly studied research topic over the past years. In this context, we will discuss signatures of cryogenic exciton localization in different carbon nanotube materials as well as experimental and theoretical aspects of Stark spectroscopy of individual carbon nanotubes in transverse electric field.
