Host-Guest Driven Self-Assembly of Non-Pi Aggregated Multi-Porphyrin Nanoarchitectures
Host-Guest Driven Self-Assembly of Non-Pi Aggregated Multi-Porphyrin Nanoarchitectures
Monday, 25 May 2015: 10:40
Lake Michigan (Hilton Chicago)
The central focus of this talk will be on the molecular recognition, supramolecular chemistry, and photonic properties associated with non-pi aggregated multi-porphyrinic nanoarchitectures in water. The initial segment of the seminar will discuss the self-assembly and photophysical evaluation of porphyrin nanowires, nanowire networks, and nanospheres, assembled through hydrophobically-driven, β-cyclodextrin (β-CD)-based, host-guest interactions. In the second portion of the talk, we will detail the construction of multi-layer thin films of porphyrin and perylene diimide chromophores via a straightforward layer-by-layer host-guest driven deposition strategy. As a result of the inter-disciplinary nature of this research, a variety of studies will be presented, ranging from organic synthesis to spectroscopic experiments as well as microscopic studies.
