We describe a recently developed kinetic Monte Carlo approach that can describe shape selection and morphologies obtained in solution/suspension synthesis of "isomeric" (even-proportioned) crystalline nanoparticles. This approach also allows the study of the kinetics of the emergence of nanostructures involving matter uptake and exchange. The latter include core-shell particle formation, particle sintering, and on-surface nanostructure growth.
