The catalytic activity for the ORR of graphene-supported Pt-NiTiO3 (Pt-NiTiO3/G) catalyst was evaluated in 0.5 M KOH. NiTiO3 nanoparticles were synthesized via a wet-chemical method. XRD analysis confirmed the formation of crystalline NiTiO3 nanoparticles with a size of ca. 25 nm. Then, nanostructured 20% Pt-NiTiO3/G catalyst (Pt:NiTiO3 ratio of 1:1) was obtained by the microwave assited polyol method. The titanate-based catalyst showed a high cataytic activity for the ORR in 0.5 M KOH electrolyte. It also showed enhanced tolerance to methanol and ethanol, compared to Pt/C and Pt/Gr catalysts. The results suggest that Pt-NiTiO3/G electrocatalyst is a good candidate for Alkaline Fuel Cells applications.
