ABSTRACT WITHDRAWN

Symmetrical Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Nano-Composite Cathodes (NCCs) were fabricated by infiltrating Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ (BSCF) precursor nitrate solutions containing glycine and Triton-X 100 into porous Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (GDC) cathode scaffolds. X-ray diffraction indicated that in all cases the BSCF infiltrate was >90% phase pure. NCCs produced using CaCl2 desiccation exhibited improved performance compared to conventionally infiltrated NCCs. The observed performance trends were interpreted in terms of scanning electron microscopy-measured BSCF nanoparticle sizes and Simple Infiltrated Microstructure Polarization Loss Estimation (SIMPLE) modelling.
