Insulin measurement systems for artificial pancreas and for managing normal glucose metabolism have been identified to be a critical need due to the ever growing rapid diabetic disorders globally. Our objective is to design a label-free, low-cost paper sensor for directly measuring insulin concentrations in circulating biofluids. As a step forward towards this goal, we present herein a sensor design that can successfully measure picomolar insulin concentrations in a diluted human serum.
