Abstract

Embedded is a combination of software and hardware when a technology is used to do a particular task it is called embedded system embedded system is widely used automobiles, industrial automation, home appliances, mobile and aeronautics. Embedded technology uses PC or controller to do the specified task and programming is done using assembly language programming or embedded C. Embedded system designers prefer wireless from home light circuit system, entertainment system and industrial control to monitoring and communicate remotely. Wireless innovations are in the process of changing the way we live and work by giving people access to more information than they ever imagined. In this project we are using the embedded technology to inform the visually impaired regarding the approaching bus. This project consist of encoder which constantly gives the input to RF transmitter RF transmitter continuously transmits the information of the bus to visually impaired person at the frequency of 433.9MHz. Visually impaired person has the receiver which receives RF signal transmitted from the bus. Receiver consists of the decoder which decodes the signals and the decoded signal is given as input to the micro controller, which compares obtained information and stored value in the microcontroller if value matches with microcontroller value then the output is given to the voice IC where the voice is already programmed with a set of output then the voice IC informs the visually impaired person regarding the bus route number. This process can be implemented in the signal bus. But it can be enacted in multiple buses using the same frequency.

Introduction

Visually impaired people face many difficulties in day to day life, one of the difficulty is navigating independently and finding the public transport in urban areas. This was the motivation for doing this research in this subject. A system is something that maintains its existence and functions as a whole through the information of its parts. E.g. Body, Mankind, Access control, etc. Embedded system is a combination of hardware and software used to achieve a single specific task.

This project presents and system consist of encoder which constantly gives the input to RF transmitter RF transmitter continuously transmits the information of the bus to visually impaired person at the frequency of 433.9MHz.

Methods

Transmitter side circuit is implemented in each bus. Project is done for four difference buses. For each bus, a particular RF signal is transmitted constantly. Each Visually impaired person will have a device. If any bus is near to them ,the device will receive the RF signal and informed the bus route number as a voice signal.

KEIL-c software is used to program the embedded system of this project.

Conclusion(s)

The device will be successfully function only when it operates properly “ Bus Identification for Visually Impaired and Blind people Based on the microcontroller”, who assembly & tested successfully . In this approach the output is tested through the response of voice IC. C language is used for software section. This device was developed in such a way that facilities available at present can be expanded . This device consists of encoder which constantly gives the input to RF transmitter . RF transmitter continuously transmits the information of the bus to blind person at the frequency of 433.9 MHz , Blind person has the receiver which receives RF signal if the blind person is near the bus then the blind person can able to know which route bus is coming near. So he or she does not need to ask for help to find the bus route.

Device is mainly used for blind people and some of the advantages are cost is very low, high efficiency, low power, easy to implement and easily portable. Since it is a microcontroller Based system , we can expand future with using GSM , CDMA technology.
