Organic color-centers (OCCs) are opening exciting opportunities at the forefronts of bio-imaging, molecular sensing, and quantum information sciences. However, the chemistries used to generate these sp3 quantum defect emitters typically produce diverse bonding configurations that are poorly understood, posing a formidable challenge to the synthesis of identical color centers. In this talk, we will report our progress at addressing this synthetic challenge. Both challenges and opportunities will be discussed.
