Livent has developed LIOVIXTM printable lithium technology, that utilizes a stable lithium metal containing suspension that can be deposited on the most common substrates when a controlled amount of lithium metal is required. One of the most common uses of LIOVIX technology is pre-lithiation of anode electrodes. We have successfully demonstrated this technology in pre-lithiating of silicon-based anodes that contain from 5% to 100% silicon. LIOVIX can also be used to deposit thin lithium foils on current collectors, separators, and even solid or polymer electrolytes for lithium metal anode applications with controlled thickness and width. We have demonstrated printed lithium foils’ thickness in the range of 5µm to 50µm. LIOVIX technology is easily scalable using industry standard coating and printing equipment. The technology is flexible, cathode agnostic and adaptable to any energy storage device where an independent source of lithium is desired.
