LaxSr1-xMnO3 powder was reported as an electrode modifier material for the oxidation of alcohols. Perovskite structural of LaxSr1-xMnO3 was successfully prepared by cathodic deposition method. The structure and morphology of the samples were characterized by XRD and FE-SEM. The results indicated that LaxSr1-xMnO3 showed a stacked layered morphology. Electrochemical properties were characterized by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results suggested that the electro-catalytic behavior of LaxSr1-xMnO3 enhances the oxidation of methanol and ethanol at 1.35 and 1.32 V, respectively along with good cycling stability. Thanks to the potential shift, the increased current signal and the fact that the electrode is not poisoned by CO, this electrode modifier can be applied in direct alcohol fuel cells.
