Silicon is one of promising active materials for Li-ion batteries for its high capacity.  In order to utilize silicon-based materials as alternative anode, the composite electrodes were prepared from silicon-based materials with various binders (such as acrylic acid, polyimide), conducting materials (AB, CB) and current collecting materials.  Pouch cells were composed with the electrode and various separator.  To investigate the electrochemical properties of the silicon-based materials anode, an electrochemical test was conducted.  From the view point of the safety characterization compared with electrode resistance, the results of nail insertion test for pouch cells were also carried out.  In this study cycle performance was heavily dependent on the binder.
