SOFC is a clean and promising energy conversion device that has the advantage of fuel flexibility over other types of fuel cells. In the methane fed SOFCs with internal reforming reaction, direct internal reforming (DIR) reaction and water gas shift reaction (WGSR) occur in anode. To model internal reforming SOFCs, kinetic model and equilibrium model are normally utilized through reviewing previous researches. In order to investigate a more effective model to simulate the processes of electrochemical reactions, the chemical reactions and gas diffusion in the internal reforming SOFCs, comparison between kinetic model and equilibrium model will be conducted. The research results may provide a theoretical basis for future modeling in internal reforming SOFCs.
