The Navy and other government laboratories have been actively engaged in wide bandgap semiconductor research for power and RF applications for over twenty years. In this presentation I will give brief overview of the scope of research at the Navy labs with emphasis wide bandgap semiconductor power electronics. The research activities are extremely diverse ranging from fundamental wide bandgap materials research to system level deployments.  Throughout the talk I will discuss research opportunities within Navy laboratories and the desired skill sets for young scientists and engineers entering the research community.
