High energy density lithium ion batteries have received great attention according to emerging electric vehicle market to overcome global climate change crisis. High energy density batteries are essential to increase driving range of electric vehicle. As energy density increase, safety become more important issue to prevent potential safety events. One of the main reason of current lithium ion battery’s safety problem is flammable components such as organic electrolytes. All solid state batteries with non-flammable inorganic sulfide solid electrolytes is essential due to its potential for securing higher energy density and safe characteristics over current lithium ion battery system.

In this research, sheet type electrode and electrolyte layers were fabricated by conventional slurry mixing and coating method. Cathode composite electrode sheets were consist of Li(Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1)O2 as the active material, argyrodyte type structured Li6PS5Cl as the solid electrolyte, conductive carbon, butadiene rubber-based binder. Homogeneous mixing and coating conditions were examined by controlling experimental factors. All solid state batteries with high energy density were assembled and electrochemical tests were investigated. The detailed results will be further discussed in the presentation.
