In p-type crystalline Si solar cells, when the passivated emitter rear contact (PERC) replaces the back surface field (BSF) in the back contact, the cell red response enhances and its efficiency improves. In the laboratory, the research type 6 inch cells have reached their new record of 22.0% and 22.7% for mc-Si and c-Si, respectively. In past a couple of years, PERC solar cells successfully migrate from Lab’s development to factory manufacturing. At current mass production, the average solar cell efficiency is over 21% with high end of 21.8%. The average module wattage of 60-cell (6”) achieves over 300W with high end of 320W.
