The primary challenge in designing a monitoring system for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicle (EV) is to evaluate safety and uniformity of battery in operating conditions. In this research, strain gauges are adopted to real-time monitor the stress of every commercial Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)Olithium ion battery in the battery package under various conditions. This is an efficient experimental technique to determine the uniformity and safety of battery package.

Otherwise, the shell exhibits elastic deformation behaviour, and the strain-stress relationship is established. The reliability of the monitoring tests, along with the relationship among macroscopic mechanical stress, State-of-charge (SOC) and State-of-health (SOH) has been analyzed. The reasons for such stress changes have also been discussed. The uniform level of a commercial battery pack has been evaluated.
