In 2004, the group of Michel Armand reported a cation conductivity σi ≤ 3 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 25°C with a salt in the plasticizer N ≡ C – CH2 – CH2 –C ≡ N. We have investigated the use of this plasticizer as the contact with the cathode in an all-solid-state rechargeable cell containing a solid dielectric amorphous-oxide electrolyte contacting the anode. With this configuration, we obtain a rechargeable-battery cell that stores electric power as both chemical and electrostatic energy.
