ABSTRACT WITHDRAWN

In this work, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) based gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) have been added with various concentrations of lithium bis(oxalato)borate (LiBOB). Methyl and methoxy functional groups in PMMA reduce the number of potential reaction pathways for Li2O2 attack in PMMA. Tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (Tegdme) has been used as solvent. The highest room temperature (RT) conductivity for the GPE with composition 10 wt.% LiBOB – 90 wt. % PMMA is 3.50 x 10-4 S cm-1. The window stability of the highest ionic conductivity is 4.7 V at room temperature. The lithium-air cells with configuration Li/10 wt.% LiBOB – 90 wt. % PMMA/carbon air cathode was tested at 0.05 mA/cm2 and charged from 2.0 V to 4.5 V at room temperature. The discharge capacity of cell ~ 500 mAh/g. The impedance of the cell has been carried out using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
